Code 8, Ignition Output Signal
- Turn off ignition. Remove "EFI/ECU" fuse in under-hood relay panel for 10 seconds to reset ECU. Start engine and observe warning light. If light is off, problem is intermittent. Test drive and check again.
- If light is on, turn ignition off. Disconnect 2 primary connectors at ignition coil. Measure resistance between terminals B and D of coil. See Fig 1
. If resistance is not about 2000 ohms, replace coil. If resistance is correct, reconnect primary connectors.
- Connect system checker harness between ECU and ECU connectors. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals A1 (pos.) and B8 (neg.). If about 10 volts is not measured, repair open in Blue wire between coil and ECU terminal A1. If about 10 volts is measured, substitute a known good ECU. If condition is rectified, replace original ECU.
