EACV Functional Test

  1. Start engine and warm to operating temperature (cooling fan comes on). Disconnect EACV hose from air cleaner. Increase engine speed to 3500 RPM and check for vacuum. If vacuum is not present, check warning light on dash and self-diagnosis LED on ECU. If light is not illuminated, replace EACV.
  2. If vacuum is present, increase engine speed to 3500 RPM and suddenly close throttle. If vacuum is not present, check warning light on dash and self-diagnosis LED on ECU. If light is illuminated and code 14 is displayed, go to CODE 14, EACV. If dash warning light is not illuminated and ECU LED is not displaying codes, check EACV hose for proper connection, cracks, blockage or disconnection. If hose is okay, replace EACV.
