Dashpot System Check
- Connect tachometer to engine. Warm engine to operating temperature (cooling fan comes on). With engine idling, disconnect vacuum hose from dashpot diaphragm.
- Engine speed should increase. If RPM does not increase, go to step 3). See DASHPOT RPM ADJUSTMENT table. If RPM increase is not within specification, bend tab to adjust on Prelude models or turn screw to adjust on Accord models. See Figure .
- If RPM did not increase when dashpot hose was disconnected in step 2), check for manifold vacuum at diaphragm end of hose. If vacuum is present, replace dashpot diaphragm. If vacuum is not present, check hose for proper routing, cracks or disconnection.
- If vacuum is present to check valve, but not coming out the other side, replace check valve.
