Code 1 - O2 Sensor (2.1L)

  1. Turn ignition off. Reset ECU by removing CLOCK fuse in underhood fuse/relay block for 10 seconds. Start engine, and warm to normal operating temperature (cooling fan comes on).
  2. Road test vehicle. With transmission in 2nd gear, accelerate for at least 5 seconds at wide open throttle, and then decelerate for at least 5 seconds with throttle completely closed. Verify if CHECK ENGINE light is on and if LED is flashing Code 1. If LED is flashing Code 1, perform test in CODE 43, FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM  . If LED is not flashing Code 1, problem is intermittent. Check for poor connections and loose wires at ground connector near right shock tower, at O2 sensor and at ECU.
