Rotor Slip Ring
- Check that there is continuity between the slip rings. See Fig 1 (1999-2001 models) or Fig 2 (2002-04 models). If there is continuity, go to next step. If there is no continuity, replace the alternator (1999-2001 models) or replace the rotor assembly (2002-04 models).
- Check that there is no continuity between each slip ring and the rotor and the rotor shaft. If there is no continuity, go to STATOR (1999-2001 models) or replace the rear housing assembly, and go to next step (2002-04 models). If there is continuity, replace the alternator (1999-2001 models) or replace the rotor assembly (2002-04 models).
- Reassemble the alternator in the reverse order of disassembly. Be careful not to get any grease or oil on the slip rings during reassembly. If you remove the pulley, tighten it's locknut to the specification when you reinstall it. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS (2002-04 models).
