ATEQ TPMS Reset Procedure
NOTE:
If a flat tire is replaced with the spare tire, the TPMS indicator will come on, and DTC(s) will be set, because the system is no longer receiving the signal from the flat tire's transmitter. This does not indicate a problem with the spare tire.
NOTE:
When a tire pressure sensor or control unit is replaced, or a known good wheel is substituted, the ID(s) of all four tires' sensors must be memorized by the TPMS control unit. After memorizing the sensor ID(s) or doing a tire rotation, the mounting location of sensors 1, 2, 3 and 4 must be determined. When the "activate sensor" signal is sent to each wheel in sequence, the tire pressure sensors can be located by the reaction sensor number.
NOTE:
To ensure the control unit memorizes the correct ID, the vehicle with the new sensor must be at least 3 m (10 ft.) away from any other TPMS pressure sensor not installed on that vehicle.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Set the tire pressure of all wheels to pressure specified on the tire and loading information label.
- Wait for 5 minutes for the tire pressure sensor to enter "sleep mode".
- Select "Reset TPM System" on the TPMS3.
- Hold the TPMS3 against the side wall of the tire, within 3 inches of the valve stem. Press TEST button on the TPMS3 and read each of the sensor IDs in the following order: left front, right front, left rear, and right rear.
- Connect the TPMS3 OBDII module to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located under the driver's side of the instrument panel.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Do not start engine.
- When screen prompts to "CONNECT OBDII MODULE", press "Y" button on the TPMS3 to transmit sensor IDs.
- Use TPMS3 to trigger all 4 sensors until the TPMS warning indicator on instrument panel is OFF.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect the TPMS3 from DLC.
- Test-drive the vehicle at 28 mph (45 km/h) or more for at least one minute. Monitor the low pressure indicator to be certain it does not blink.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF, reduce the pressure in one tire until it is below 25 psi then turn ignition switch ON.
- Test-drive the vehicle at 28 mph (45 km/h) or more for at least one minute. Verify that the low pressure indicator turns on, then reinflate the tire.
- Repeat steps 12 and 13 for all other tires. Clear any DTCs.
