Hold-In Test

With solenoid "M" terminal connector still disconnected. Apply 12 volts to solenoid "S" terminal and ground starter case in order to pull-in solenoid plunger. See Fig 1. This test MUST be performed in 10 seconds or less to prevent coil burn out. If pinion drive remains out when plunger is pulled in, hold-in circuit is good. If pinion drive moves in, hold-in circuit is open, replace solenoid.
