Solenoid Tests: Notes

CAUTION: Perform solenoid tests in less than 10 seconds to prevent solenoid coil damage.

Pull-In Test - Disconnect field coil wire from terminal "M" of solenoid. Connect 12-volt battery between terminals "S" and "M" of solenoid. See Figure . Solenoid plunger should pull in, extending pinion drive. If pinion drive moves outward, pull-in coil is good. If pinion drive does not move outward, replace solenoid.
