Return Test

Disconnect field coil wire from terminal "M" of solenoid. Apply battery voltage to terminal "M" of solenoid, and ground starter case. Manually pull out pinion drive and then release it. See Fig 3. Pinion drive should return quickly to original position. If pinion drive does not return to original position, replace solenoid.
