Overrunning Clutch

  1. While holding clutch housing, rotate drive pinion. See Fig 1 . See Drive pinion should rotate smoothly in one direction, but not in the reverse direction. Replace overrunning clutch if operation is not as specified.
  2. Visually inspect drive pinion. If drive pinion is worn or burred, replace overrunning clutch. See If drive pinion is damaged, also check ring gear for wear or burrs.
