Checking Insulator Depth

Check mica condition and measure mica depth between commutator segments. See Fig 1 . If mica is too high, undercut to proper depth with a hacksaw blade. For specification, see STARTER SPECIFICATIONS  . Replace armature if insulator depth is not within specification. See OVERHAUL  .
