Armature Test: Inspection

  1. Check Armature Wear  - Replace armature if there is any signs of wear or damage due to contact with permanent magnet.
  2. Check Armature Commutator Surface  - Resurface commutator surface, with emery cloth or lathe, if dirty or burnt. See Fig 1 . Ensure commutator is within specification. See CHECKING RUNOUT & DIAMETER  .
