Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Move the shift lever to "NI".
  2. Turn ignition OFF switch and the disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  3. Remove the air duct and the air cleaner assembly.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  4. Battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "BATTERY ")

  5. Remove the engine control module (ECM).

    (Refer to Engine Control System - "ECM ")

  6. Loosen the nut (B) and then separate the shift cable (A).

  7. Remove the shift knob & boots (A).

  8. Remove the floor console assembly.

    (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "FLOOR CONSOLE ")

  9. Remove the snap pin (A) and then separate the shift cable (B).

  10. Loosen the nut and then removing the cable retainer (A).

  11. Remove the control cable assembly from the vehicle.
