Repair Procedures: Installation

  1. Install the rotor to front housing.
  2. Install the through bolts, after installing the rear housing.

    Tightening torque: 

    4.9 - 6.9 N.m (0.5 - 0.7 kgf.m, 3.6 - 5.1 lb - ft)

    NOTE: Check the insertion of the wave washer between the rear housing and the slip ring .
    Do not hammer or when installing the rear housing.
  3. Insert the brush (A) into the brush holder, and hold the brush by inserting alignment pin (B) into the installing hole (C).

    NOTE: After installing the brush holder on the snap ring, always remove the alignment pin. Make sure the removed pin does not get inside of the alternator.
  4. Install the bolts (B), after installing the bush holder (A) by inserted to fixing pin.
    CAUTION: With the alignment pin inserted, settle it on the horizontal frame. Once the brush is settled, press it lightly so that the left side of the frame is completely pressed in.
    When assembling the brush, be careful not to damage the slip ring.

    Tightening torque: 

    1.6 - 2.0 N.m (0.16 - 0.2 kgf.m, 1.2 - 1.4 lb - ft)

  5. Remove the brush fixing pin.
  6. Install the bush to b terminal.
  7. Install the rear cover.
    NOTE: Be careful not to impact the rear cover, terminal B, and bush when installing.

    Tightening torque: 

    3.8 - 5.3 N.m (0.39 - 0.54 kgf.m, 2.8 - 3.9 lb - ft)

  8. After the pulley (A) is installed, fit the aluminum board where the pulley is installed, and fix the alternator on the vise.
    NOTE: Fastening the alternator housing may damage the stator coil inside. It is recommended to fasten the part which the bolts are tightened (B), on the front and rear housing.

    Tightening torque: 

    94.1 - 127.1 N.m (9.6 - 12.96 kgf.m, 69.4 - 93.7 lb - ft)

  9. Follow the order below and install the special tool (SST No.: 09373 - D2200) designed to remove and install the overrunning pulley.
  10. Support and fix the overrunning pulley removal/installation tool on the worktable.
  11. While holding with overrunning pulley removal/installation tool, use the ratchet to tighten the torque wrench counterclockwise .

    Tightening torque: 

    94.1 - 127.1 N.m (9.6 - 12.96 kgf.m, 69.4 - 93.7 lb-ft)
