Pinion Extension Length Adjustment

1. On M30 models, with pinion fully extended, clearance between pinion gear and stopper should be between .002-.0315" (.05-.8 mm) on Hitachi starters and .012-.079" (.3-2.0 mm) on Mitsubishi starters. Adjust using adjusting plates. See Fig 1.
2. Adjusting plates are available in 2 sizes, .020" (.5 mm) and .031" (.8 mm). On Q45 models, clearance should be between .020-.079" (.5-2.0 mm). Adjust as necessary.
