Vehicle Speed Sensor

  1. Remove VSS from transmission. Using a DVOM set to AC voltage scale, measure voltage between VSS terminals while quickly turning VSS pinion. DVOM should indicate about .5 volt. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace VSS.
  2. Measure resistance between VSS connector terminals. Resistance should be about 250 ohms. If resistance is as specified, VSS is okay. If resistance is not as specified, replace VSS.
