Vehicle Speed Sensor
- Connect a circuit tester between the control unit harness connector terminal No. 5 and ground. Disconnect the speedometer cable at transmission side and turn the inner cable slowly.
- If the tester indicates a continuity and open circuit alternately as the cable is turned, the speed sensor and circuit are operating normally.
- To test the speed sensor, remove the meter assembly from the dash. Connect a circuit tester across the terminals of the connector at the rear face of the meter assembly. See Fig 1 .
- Turn the inner shaft slowly and check that the tester indicates continuity and open circuit alternately. If inoperative, speedometer must be replaced as an assembly.
