Fuel Pressure: Notes

CAUTION: The fuel line is under pressure. When installing an in-line fuel pressure gauge, caution must be used when disconnecting fuel lines.
  1. Install fuel pressure gauge between the pressure regulator and fuel distributor pipe. Unplug the vacuum switching valve at the connector. Start engine and measure fuel pressures. See Fuel Pressure Table.
    FUEL PRESSURE

    Condition psi (kg/cm2 )
Pressure regulator vacuum hose disconnected and plugged 35.6 (2.5)
Pressure regulator vacuum hose connected (engine at 900 RPM) 28.4 (2.0)
Engine stopped and vacuum hose disconnected 28.4 (2.0)
All hoses connected and 12V applied to vacuum switching valve at 900 RPM 35.6 (2.5)
  2. If fuel pressure remains unchanged during the checks, check the vacuum switching valve and restrictions in fuel hoses on the intake side of the fuel pump. The vacuum switching valve should show a resistance of about 35 ohms.
