Air Flow Sensor & Harness

  1. Partly raise sealing gasket on air flow sensor side of harness connector. Using voltmeter, check sensor wiring and sensor operation. See Air Flow Sensor Testing table.
    AIR FLOW SENSOR TESTING

    Wiring Condition Voltage
    Red Ignition ON 10-14
    Green Ignition ON .2-.6
    Green Engine Running 1.0-2.0
    Black Ignition ON 0
  2. If checks at Red and Black wires give incorrect results, repair wiring as necessary. If checks at Green wire give incorrect results, replace air flow sensor. Check air flow by-pass circuit for contamination and clean with carburetor cleaner as necessary. DO NOT immerse switch in carburetor cleaner.

  3. To test air flow wiring harness circuits, turn ignition "OFF" and disconnect harness from sensor and ECU. Test harness with ohmmeter.
  4. All three wires must show complete circuit (0 ohms) between sensor plug and ECU plug. Ensure harness is not grounded between air flow sensor and ECU plugs.
