Air Regulator

  1. Warm engine to operating temperature. Disconnect throttle valve body-to-air regulator hose at throttle valve body. Plug hole in throttle valve body.
  2. Start engine. Check for variation in engine speed by closing and opening end of air regulator hose. Engine speed should vary less than 50 RPM. If variation is more than specified, replace air regulator.
  3. To check air regulator resistance, unplug harness at connector. Standard resistance of air regulator is 38-42 ohms. Replace air regulator assembly if resistance exceeds specified range.
  4. Check voltage at connector with ignition "ON". If voltage is present, air regulator is bad. If voltage is not present, either wiring or fuel pump relay is at fault.
