Fuel Pressure: Notes

CAUTION: Fuel line is under pressure. When installing in-line fuel pressure gauge, caution must be used when disconnecting fuel lines.
  1. Install fuel pressure gauge (J 33945) between pressure regulator and fuel distributor pipe. Unplug VSV at connector. Start engine and measure fuel pressure. See Fuel Pressures table.
    FUEL PRESSURES

    Condition psi (kg/cm2 )
    Pressure regulator vacuum hose disconnected and plugged 35.6 (2.5)
    Pressure regulator vacuum hose connected (engine at 900 RPM) 28.4 (2.0)
    Engine stopped and vacuum hose disconnected Max. 28.4 (2.0)
    All hoses connected and 12V applied to VSV at 900 RPM 35.6 (2.5)
  2. If fuel pressure remains unchanged during checks, check VSV and restrictions in fuel hoses on intake side of fuel pump. VSV should show resistance of about 35 ohms.
