Code 13 - Oxygen (O2) Sensor Open Circuit: Notes

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. Code 13 will set if:
    • Engine is at normal operating temperature.
    • At least 2 minutes engine run time after start.
    • O2 sensor voltage steady .42-.55 volts.
    • Throttle angle greater than 12 percent.
    • All conditions above must be met for about 5 seconds.

    If conditions for a Code 13 exist, system will not go into "closed loop".

  2. This test determines if O2 sensor is at fault, or ECM and/or related wiring.
  3. In performing this test, use only high impedance DVOM. This test checks continuity of circuits No. 412 and 413. If circuit No. 413 is open, ECM voltage on circuit No. 412 will measure greater than .6 volts (600 mV).
