Testing Fuel Gauge

NOTE: Before testing, ensure all fuses and grounds are good. Unless gauge is known to be defective, check sending unit and wiring circuit first.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER R & I  . Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminals IGN and UNIT. See Fig 1 .
  2. Resistance should be approximately 103 ohms. Measure resistance between terminals UNIT and GND. See Fig 1 . Resistance should be approximately 65 ohms. If resistance readings are not as specified, replace fuel gauge.
