Clutch System: Description

All clutch assemblies are single disc type with a diaphragm spring pressure plate. All clutches are hydraulically operated. Amigo, Passport and Rodeo 3.2L, SLX and Trooper clutches use a pull-type pressure plate. On pull-type clutches, the throw out bearing interlocks to the release lever and the clutch releases when diaphragm fingers are pulled out. Hombre uses a concentric-type clutch release cylinder mounted inside transmission bellhousing. Some hydraulic clutch control systems use a hydraulic damper.
