Left Rear Speed Sensor

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Using DVOM, measure resistance between terminals No. 28 and 46 of ABS ECU connector. If resistance is 800-1400 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 800-1400 ohms, ensure speed sensor connector is not disconnected or damaged.
  2. Disconnect speed sensor connector. Measure resistance at speed sensor connector. If speed sensor resistance is not 800-1400 ohms, replace speed sensor. If speed sensor resistance is 800-1400 ohms, check wiring harness between ABS ECU and speed sensor connector for a short or open circuit. Repair as necessary. If wiring harness is okay, go to next step.
  3. Lift and support vehicle so left rear wheel is off ground. Ensure ignition is off. Connect an AC voltmeter between ABS ECU connector terminals No. 28 and 46. Rotate left rear wheel at one revolution per second. If AC voltage is .04-.1 volt, go to next step. If A/C voltage is not within .04-.1 volt, check speed sensor installation, toothed wheel for warping and cracks, and hub carrier for damage.
  4. Ensure ignition is off. Using DVOM, check for continuity between terminals No. 1 and 28 of ABS ECU connector. Continuity should not exist. If continuity exists, check speed sensor for a short to ground. If speed sensor is okay, check wiring harness between ABS ECU and speed sensor for a short to ground. Repair as necessary.
