Towing Precautions
- Jeep vehicles may be towed with front or rear wheels off the ground. Towing speeds should be limited to 30 MPH for a distance not to exceed 15 miles. When towing Wrangler with rear wheels raised, use a towing dolly to support front wheels.
- If Grand Wagoneer or "J" series Pickup with model 208 or 300 transfer case is to be towed over 200 miles, stop towing vehicle at least every 200 miles to lubricate transfer case. Place transfer case in Neutral. Start engine. Place automatic transmission in drive. Run engine for 1-2 minutes.
- On Cherokee, Comanche and Wagoneer equipped with the model 207 transfer case, Shift transmission into park (automatic) or Neutral (manual). On Wrangler, shift automatic or manual transmission into Neutral.
- On Cherokee, Comanche and Wagoneer equipped with the model 229 transfer case and automatic transmission, turn ignition switch to "OFF" position. Shift transmission into Park. On all models, shift transfer case into Neutral.
