Air Injection System: Description

The Air Injection System (AIS) is used to inject fresh air into the exhaust system. When fresh air is injected into hot exhaust gases, combustion of unburned gases takes place. This burning of unburned fuel reduces the amount of exhaust emissions that escape into the atmosphere.

The AIS system consists of a belt driven air pump, a vacuum controlled diverter (by-pass) valve, 2 air injection manifolds with check valves, and connecting hoses.
