Power Mirror System
- Check fuse No. 18 (10-amp) in junction block. Junction block is located behind right kick panel. If fuse is blown, repair short circuit and replace fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage at fuse No. 18 in junction block. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open on Black/White wire between ignition switch and junction block. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
- If problem being diagnosed is inoperative illumination of power mirror switch buttons on Driver Door Module (DDM), go to next step. If problem being diagnosed is inoperative power mirror heating grid, go to step 6 . If problem being diagnosed is inoperative power mirror, go to step 10 .
- Check circuit breaker No. 28 (25-amp) in junction block. Replace as necessary. If circuit breaker is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver's door trim panel. See FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect DDM. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage at DDM 12-pin connector terminal No. 9 (Tan wire). See Figure . If battery voltage does not exist, repair open circuit between DDM and circuit breaker No. 28 in junction block. If battery voltage exists, replace DDM.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door trim panel. See FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect wire connector from mirror. Check for continuity between ground and harness side of mirror connector Black wire. If continuity does not exist, repair open ground circuit. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Turn rear window defogger system on. Check for battery voltage at mirror connector terminal No. 5 (Black/White wire on all models except left side with power windows; Light Blue/Yellow wire on left side with power windows). See Figure . If battery voltage does not exist, repair open circuit between power mirror and rear window defogger relay. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
- Check for continuity between mirror connector ground terminal (Black wire) and power terminal (Black/White wire on all models except left side with power windows; Light Blue/Yellow wire on left side with power windows). If continuity does not exist, replace mirror. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between mirror component connector ground terminal (Black wire) and power terminal (Black/White wire on all models except left side with power windows; Light Blue/Yellow wire on left side with power windows). Resistance should be 10-16 ohms with an ambient temperature of 70°F (21°C). If resistance is as specified, test is complete. If resistance is not as specified, replace mirror.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. On models with power windows, go to next step. On models without power windows, remove power mirror switch. See STAND-ALONE POWER MIRROR SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect power mirror switch. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage at power mirror switch connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Dark Green wire). If battery voltage does not exist, repair open circuit between power mirror switch and junction block. If battery voltage exists, go to step 12 .
- On models with power windows, remove door trim panel See FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect DDM 8-pin connector. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage at White DDM connector C2 terminal No. 3 (Yellow Dark Green wire). If battery voltage does not exist, repair open circuit between DDM and junction block. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
- On all models, turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Check for continuity between ground and Black wire of power window switch connector (stand-alone models) or DDM 8-pin connector (power window-equipped models). If continuity does not exist, repair open ground circuit. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Check stand-alone power mirror switch or DDM power mirror switch continuity. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace power mirror switch or DDM as necessary. If power mirror switch is okay, go to next step.
- Test power mirror motor. See POWER MIRROR MOTOR test under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace mirror as necessary. If power mirror is okay, repair wiring between mirror and switch.
