Body Control Module
Body Control Module (BCM) is attached to the rear of the junction block located under left side of dash. See Figure. BCM controls many of the vehicle's electrical functions and features by providing power or ground to a variety of systems. BCM contains a central processing unit and interfaces with other modules in the vehicle on the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) data bus network.
BCM is the only module that has the capability of providing both "bias" and "termination" on the PCI bus system. See PCI BUS SYSTEM . Systems are monitored by BCM through voltage drops.
BCM features include automatic turning off of any interior or exterior lights if left on for 8 minutes after turning ignition off. Accessory delay allows operation of power windows and sunroof for 45 seconds after ignition is turned off or if a door is opened during the 45 second time-out period.
