Ignition Control: Description

The ignition systems used on both the 2.4L 4-cylinder and 4.0L 6-cylinder engines are a distributor-less type.

The ignition system consists of:

  1. Spark Plugs
  2. Spark Plug Cables (secondary wires)
  3. Ignition Coil(s)
  4. Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
  5. Crankshaft Position Sensor
  6. Camshaft Position Sensor
  7. The MAP, TPS, IAC and ECT also have an effect on the control of the ignition system.
