Fan, Cooling: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the pressurized coolant bottle. Refer to REMOVAL  .
  3. Remove the hood latch. Refer to LATCH, HOOD, REMOVAL .
  4. Disconnect the upper oxygen sensor wire harness connector.

  5. Remove the bolts (1) and the catalytic converter heat shield (2).

  6. Remove the turbocharger heat shield nut and stud (1).

  7. Detach the coolant hose (1) from the upper radiator panel (2).

  8. Disconnect the cooling fan module wire harness connector.
  9. Remove the wiring harness (1) and retainers from the upper radiator panel (2) and position aside the wire harness.

  10. Disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor wire harness connector (1).

  11. Remove the fasteners (1) and the upper radiator panel (2).

  12. Remove the six bolts (1, 2) and the upper core support (3).
  13. Remove the fasteners and the right and left air deflectors.
  14. Remove the upper radiator hose.

  15. Remove the cooling fan bolts (1).
  16. Lift up and remove the cooling fan assembly (2) from the top.
