Charging System (Service Information): Generator: Removal: 2.4L

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to NEGATIVE CABLE .
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the resonator. Refer to REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .

  5. Remove the two forward A/C compressor mounting bolts (1).
  6. Loosen the inner A/C compressor mounting bolt (2) enough to allow the A/C compressor and lines to pivot downward allowing full access to the lower generator mounting bolts.

  7. Disconnect the field generator harness connector (3).
  8. Remove the B+ cable from the generator stud (2).
  9. Remove the upper generator bolt (1).
  10. Remove the lower generator bolts (4).
