Rear Suspension: Spring(S): Installation
NOTE:
When installing the spring, the lower end of the spring (1) and the spring isolator orientation feature (2) must be aligned as shown in illustration. The lower end of the spring is always outboard.
NOTE:
The label on the spring is always closest to the top isolator.
- If spring isolators were removed or a new spring is being installed, place spring isolator on each end of spring.
- Place the coil spring (1) on top of the spring link perches.
- Use a jack stand or equivalent to raise the suspension into place.
- Position the spring link (6) in the installed position and install the bolt (4). Do not tighten to specification at this time.
- Install the stabilizer link (2) stud to the stabilizer bar and install the stabilizer link nut (1).
- While holding the stabilizer link stud stationary, tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- With the vehicle at normal ride height, tighten the spring link to the lower knuckle assembly bolt to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Check for proper vehicle curb height. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
