Removal And Installation: Installation

NOTE:

When installing the coil spring on to the strut, align the coil spring tag (1) to the clevis (2).

NOTE:

Some springs will have a banana shape to them and it is imperative that the lower end coil butts up against the lower rubber isolator seat.

  1. Using a Brannick 7600 spring compressor or equivalent compress the spring (5).
  2. Install the lower spring isolator (6) on the strut (7).
  3. Position the strut (7) into the compressed spring (5).
  4. Install the boot (4).
  5. Install the jounce bumper (3).
  6. Install the strut upper mount (2).
  7. Install the strut rod nut (1).
  8. Use (special tool #2027800020, Kit, Remover - Installer Shock / Strut) to tighten the strut rod nut (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Install the front strut. Refer to STRUT, SUSPENSION, ASSEMBLY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Check for proper vehicle curb height. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  11. Perform the wheel alignment procedure. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
