2.4L Multi Air: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the bolts (1a) and nuts (1b) and the exhaust heat shield (1c).
  3. Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

    NOTE:

    When removing the transmission oil cooler line on the 2.4L Multi Air engine, use Special Tool 8875A with the fingers of the tool facing the quick connect fitting.

  4. Do not remove the retaining clips (1a), install Special Tool 8875A or equivalent over the quick connect fitting and disconnect the transmission oil cooler line (1b).
  5. Plug and seal the ends of the transmission cooler lines and lines disconnected, to prevent leakage of oil or moisture, contaminates, or impurities entering into the system.

  6. Remove the fasteners (1a) and the pressurized coolant bottle (1b).

  7. Disconnect the resistor wire harness connector (1a).
  8. Disconnect the cooling fan wire harness connector (1b).
  9. Detach the wire harness retainer (1c) from fan shroud.
  10. Open the retainer (2b) detach the cooler lines from retainer.

  11. Remove the cooling fan bolts (1) and remove the cooling fan.

INSTALLATION

  1. Install the cooling fan and bolts (1). Securely tighten the bolts.

  2. Attach the cooler lines to the retainer and close the retainer (2b).
  3. Attach the wire harness retainer (1c) from fan shroud.
  4. Connect the cooling fan wire harness connector (1b).
  5. Connect the resistor wire harness connector (1a).

  6. Install the pressurized coolant bottle (1b) and the fasteners (1a).

  7. Remove the plugs from the cooler lines and cooler.
  8. Position the transmission oil cooler line (1b) connector and retaining clips (1a) and snap in place. Make sure lines are securely connected.
  9. Install the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  10. Install the exhaust heat shield (1c) and securely tighten the nuts (1b) and bolts (1a).
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
