Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Prepare the strut and coil spring for reassembly.
    NOTE:

    When installing the coil spring on the strut, align the coil spring tag (1) to the clevis (2).

  2. Identify the type of coil spring to be installed.
    NOTE:

    Some springs will have a banana-shape to them and it is imperative that the lower end coil butts up against the lower rubber isolator seat.

  3. Using a Brannick 7600 spring compressor or equivalent, compress the spring (5).
  4. Install the lower spring isolator (6) on the strut (7).
  5. Position the strut (7) to the compressed spring (5).
  6. Install the boot (4).
  7. Install the jounce bumper (3).
  8. Install the strut upper mount (2).
  9. Using (special tool #2027800020, Kit, Remover - Installer Shock / Strut), install the strut rod nut (1).
  10. Tighten the strut rod nut (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Install the rear strut. Refer to STRUT, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Check for proper vehicle curb height. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
