Repair and Diagnosis: Transmission: Clutches: Description

Clutches are single-disc type. A diaphragm spring is used to engage pressure plate. Clutch is hydraulically operated by a clutch master cylinder and transaxle housing mounted slave cylinder. On Sephia and Sportage, clutch master cylinder uses fluid from brake master cylinder reservoir. On all models, a clutch switch is used to disable starter if clutch pedal is not fully depressed.
