Safety Recall: Sedona ABS Control Module Reprogram

This bulletin provides information on a safety recall campaign to reprogram the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module on certain 2003MY Sedonas. The ABS control module in vehicles produced from 11/27/02 through 3/10/03 may have a programming error that could cause reduced braking force at speeds under 25 mph, which could result in increased stopping distances. Such increased stopping distances could result in accidents and related injuries.

NOTE: There is no charge to the customer for this repair. Under applicable law, you may not sell or otherwise deliver any affected 2003 Sedona until it has been repaired, pursuant to the procedures set forth in this bulletin.

REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE:

Remove the program card from the upper slot of the Hi-Scan Pro and insert the reprogramming card.

Connect black 20 pin adapter to the Hi-Scan Pro OBDII cable.
Connect power supply cable to Hi-Scan Pro and vehicle battery.

Connect Hi-Scan Pro to under hood DLC located near the vehicle battery.
Turn ignition key to the "ON" position.
Turn Hi-Scan Pro on, select "13. SEDONA ABS REPROGRAMMING" and press the "ENTER" key.

Select "01. SEDONA ABS REPROGRAMMING [AUTO]" and press the "ENTER" key.

At the prompt, enter your password "0525" and press the "ENTER" key.

At the prompt, turn ignition key "OFF" then back to "ON".
NOTE: Hi-Scan Pro detects the current ROM ID and assigns the new one automatically.
If the Hi-Scan Pro does not download the program automatically or reprogramming is interrupted, use the manual reprogramming procedure.

Reprogramming will proceed automatically as shown.

When "REPROGRAMMING COMPLETED" message is displayed, check the ABS warning lamp operation as directed.

Turn ignition key to the "OFF" position for 20 seconds, start engine and check for normal operation.

MANUAL REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE:

Turn ignition key to the "ON" position.
Turn Hi-Scan Pro on, select "13. SEDONA ABS REPROGRAMMING" and press the "ENTER" key.

Select "02. SEDONA ABS REPROGRAMMING [ERROR]" and press the "ENTER" key.

Select "01. SEDONA ABS : 0K2FA-667B0" and press the "ENTER" key.

At the prompt, enter your password "4721" and press the "ENTER" key.

At the prompt, turn ignition key "OFF" then back to "ON".

Hi-Scan Pro will reprogram the ABS manually.

When "REPROGRAMMING COMPLETED" message is displayed, check the ABS warning lamp operation as directed.
Turn ignition key to the "OFF" position for 20 seconds, start engine and check for normal operation.
