| Varnished (heavily viscous) | Damage to or wear of clutch, band | Change fluid and check if there is a problem with A/T body or vehicle (harness wiring, cooler pipe, etc). |
| Milky white or cloudy | Water contained | Change fluid and check if it contains water. |
| Mixed with metal powder | Abnormal wear of slide parts of A/T | Change fluid and check if A/T has a problem. |
