Repair Procedures: Installation

  1. Lifting up the transaxle slowly with a jack, tighten the under mounting bolts(A)

    TORQUE :

    Ø 2.4L 

    43~55 Nm(430~550 kgf.cm, 31.3~39.8 lb-ft) - A [2EA]

    43~49 Nm(430~490 kgf.cm, 31.3~35.6 lb-ft) - C [4EA]

    μ 2.7L 

    80~100 Nm(800~1000 kgf.cm, 57.9~72.3 lb-ft) - A [2EA]

    40~47 Nm(400~470 kgf.cm, 29.0~34.1 lb-ft) - C [4EA]

    CAUTION: Take care not to damage the power steering hoses.

  2. Insert the drive shafts into the transaxle. (See DRIVESHAFT ASSEMBLY )
  3. Install the inner shaft mounting bolts(2EA). (See DRIVESHAFT ASSEMBLY )

    TORQUE: 50~65 Nm(500~650 kgf.cm, 36.2~47.0 lb-ft)

  4. Apply grease on the threaded part of the bolts(B-4EA) which connect the drive plate with the torque converter and tighten them.

    TORQUE: 46~53 Nm(460~530 kgf.cm, 33.3~38.3 lb-ft) - B

  5. Install the starter. (See STARTING SYSTEM - 2.4L or STARTING SYSTEM - 2.7L )
  6. Tighten the transaxle insulator mounting bolt(A).

    TORQUE: 65~85 Nm(650~850 kgf.cm, 47.0~61.5 lb-ft)

  7. Tighten the transaxle upper mounting bolts(A).

    TORQUE :

    Ø 2.4L 

    43~55 Nm(430~550 kgf.cm, 31.3~39.8 lb-ft) - A [4EA]

    μ 2.7L 

    65~85 Nm(650~850 kgf.cm, 47.0~61.5 lb-ft) - A [4EA]

  8. Lifting up the sub frame with a jack, tighten the steering column bolt. (See HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM )
  9. Tighten the sub frame mounting bolts. (See HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM )
  10. Install the lower arm assembly and the steering bar tie rod mounting bolts. (See FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM /HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM )
  11. Install the front exhaust pipe. (See INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM - 2.4L or INTAKE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM - 2.7L )
  12. Clamp the power steering hose(A).

  13. Install the under cover(A).

  14. Connect the transaxle wire harness connectors.
    1. Connect the solenoid valve connector(A).

    2. Connect the inhibitor switch connector(A).

    3. Connect the input speed sensor connector(A).

    4. Connect the output speed sensor connector(A).

    5. Connect the vehicle speed sensor connector(A).

  15. Connect the ground wire(A).

  16. Connect the control cable(A) by installing the nut.

  17. Clamp the transaxle oil cooler hoses(A).

  18. Install the battery tray(A).

  19. Install the air cleaner under body(A) and connect the PCM connectors(B).

  20. Reassemble the air cleaner filter, install the air cleaner upper body(B) and connect the air flow sensor connector(A).

  21. After installing the battery(A), connect the positive terminal(B) to the battery.

  22. Install the engine cover(A).

NOTE:
  • Refill power steering fluid and bleed the power steering system. (Refer to )
  • Refill automatic transaxle fluid. (Refer to 'SERVICE ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE ')
NOTE: When replacing the automatic transaxle, reset the automatic transaxle's values by using the High-Scan Pro.
  1. Connect the Hi-Scan Pro connector to the data link connector under the crash pad and power cable to the cigar jack under the center facia.
  2. Turn the ignition switch on and power on the Hi-Scan Pro.
  3. Select the vehicle's name.
  4. Select 'AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE'.

  5. Select 'RESETTING AUTO T/A VALUES' and perform the procedure.

  6. Perform the procedure by pressing F1 (REST).
