Repair Procedures: Replacement
CAUTION:
- Prolonged and repeated contact with mineral oil will result in the removal of natural fats from the skin, leading to dryness, irritation and dermatitis. In addition, used engine oil contains potentially harmful contaminants which may cause skin cancer.
- Exercise caution in order to minimize the length and frequency of contact of your skin to used oil. Wear protective clothing and gloves. Wash your skin thoroughly with soap and water, or use water-less hand cleaner, to remove any used engine oil. Do not use gasoline, thinners, or solvents.
- In order to preserve the environment, used oil and used oil filter must be disposed of only at designated disposal sites.
- Drain engine oil.
- Replace the oil filter.
- Remove the oil filter (A) with the oil filter wrench (09263-2E000).
- Clean the oil filter seating surface of the filter base.
- Apply a light coat of new engine oil to the gasket of a new oil filter.
- Install the new oil filter by hand till the gasket seats.
- Tighten the oil filter to the specified torque using the oil filter wrench.
Tightening torque:
11.8 - 15.7 N.m (1.2 - 1.6 kgf.m, 8.7 - 11.6 kgf.m)
- Refill with engine oil.
- Clean and install the oil drain plug with a new gasket.
Tightening torque:
34.3 - 44.1N.m (3.5 - 4.5kgf.m, 25.3 - 32.5kgf.m)
- Fill with fresh engine oil.

3.7 - 4.0 L (3.91 - 4.22 U.S.qt., 3.25 - 3.51 Imp.qt., 0.97 - 1.05 U.S.gal.)
Oil pan:
3.3L (3.48U.S.qt., 2.90 Imp.qt., 0.87 U.S.gal.)
Drain and refill in clouding oil filter:
3.6 L (3.80U.S.qt., 3.16 Imp.qt., 0.95 U.S.gal.)
- Install the oil filler cap.
- Clean and install the oil drain plug with a new gasket.
- Start engine and check for oil leaks.
- Recheck the engine oil level.
- To reset the service interval to the recommended mileage, refer to the service mode section in the owner's manual for procedure (if applicable).
