Repair Procedures: Disassembly

  1. Compress the coil spring (A) with a strut spring compressor. Do not compress the spring excessively.

    NOTE:
    • To prevent peeling the paint of coil spring, cover the coil spring with a thin cloth or hose before installing strut spring compressor.
    • Set the compression position of strut spring compressor correctly for coil spring not to slant when compressing the coil spring.
  2. Remove the lock nut (A). Gradually turn the bolt on the spring compressor to slowly release the tension from the spring. Then, disconnect the components.

    Tightening torque: 

    HPD: 24.5 - 29.4 N.m (2.5 - 3.0 kgf.m, 14.5 - 18.1 lb.ft)

    ECS: 50.0 - 59.8 N.m (5.1 - 6.1 kgf.m, 36.9 - 44.1 lb.ft)

  3. Remove the spring upper pad (A).

  4. Remove the coil spring (A).

  5. Remove the bump stopper (A).

  6. Remove the spring lower pad (A).

  7. Reassembly in the reverse order of disassembly.
