Repair Procedures: Replacement

Information

When removing and installing the tailgate, an assistant is necessary.

Remove the tailgate upper trim.
(Refer to Tailgate - "TAILGATE TRIM ")
Using a screwdriver, lift the socket clips (A) up slightly on both ends of the liftgate lifter (B).

Disconnect the connectors and liftgate wiring harness (A).
After loosening the mounting bolts, then remove the liftgate assembly (B).
Tightening torque:

21.6 - 26.5 N.m (2.2 - 2.7 kgf.m, 15.9 - 19.5 lb.ft)

To install, reverse removal procedure.
Information
- Replace any damaged clips (or retainers or fasteners)
- Make sure the hood latch release cable is connected properly.
- Make sure the hood locks/unlocks and opens/closes properly.
- Adjust the latch alignment.
