Repair Procedures: Installation

  1. Install in the reverse order of removal.
    NOTE:
    • Matters that require attention when installing the transmission to engine
    1. Check that there is no gap (A) between the torque converter housing (B) and the engine block (C).

    2. While there is a gap, It would be meaning that the key of oil pump gear is not assembled properly to the torque converter hub. In this case, remove the intelligent variable transmission assembly and then reinstall the torque converter to intelligent variable transmission assembly according to the key shape of oil pump gear.

[Incorrect Assembly (C) - Torque Converter Protruded due to Interference with the Oil Pump Key Part (D)]

    3. If the mounting bolt is tightened forcibly in spite of a gap, key of oil pump gear will be damaged or broken. In this case, replace the intelligent variable transmission assembly.
NOTE: Follow the procedure as shown below based on reinstallation or replacement with a new intelligent variable transmission.
    • When reinstalling
    1. If the differential oil seal is damaged and oil is leaking, replace the oil seal with a new one. When installing a new oil seal, use the SSTs (09452-26100, 09231-H1100).
    2. Check that the shift lever and manual control lever are placed in the "N" position.
    3. Check the IVTF level after refilling the intelligent variable transmission with fluid.
    4. Clear the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) using the KDS. Disconnecting the battery negative terminal will not clear the DTCs. Clear DTCs using the KDS at all times.
    • When replacing with a new intelligent variable transmission
    1. Check that the shift lever and manual control lever are placed in the "N" position.
    2. Intelligent variable transmission is already filled with the specified amount of IVTF.

For this reason, it is not necessary to refill and check the IVTF. However, the remaining IVTF in the IVTF cooler has to be drained.

    3. Install the transmission after draining the remaining IVTF by blowing air into the IVTF cooler hose.
    4. Clear the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) using the KDS. Disconnecting the battery negative terminal will not clear the DTCs. Clear DTCs using the KDS at all times.
    5. Reset the intelligent variable transmission adaptive values using the KDS.

    7. Perform the TCM adaptive values learning procedure.

    • When replacing with a remanufactured intelligent variable transmission
    1. Remanufactured intelligent variable transmission is not filled with specified quantity of IVTF. For that reason, it is necessary to refill and check the IVTF.
    2. Check the IVTF level after refilling the intelligent variable transmission with fluid.
    3. Clear the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) using the KDS.

(The DTCs will not be cleared even after the battery negative terminal has been disconnected. So, be sure to clear the DTCs using the KDS.)

    4. Reset the intelligent variable transmission adaptive values using the KDS.
