Solenoid Test

  1. Check continuity and resistance value of windings by connecting an ohmmeter as shown. See Fig 1 . If results are incorrect, replace the solenoid. If results are correct, go to the next step.
  2. Check the contacts by connecting an ohmmeter as shown. See Fig 2 . Solenoid plunger operated by hand, ohmmeter should read zero. If results are incorrect, replace the solenoid. If results are correct, go to the next step.
  3. Check the operation of spring for freedom of movement.
