ERROR CODE 903 - INCORRECT SERVICE IDENTIFICATION WHEN UPDATING VEHICLE MODULE SOFTWARE USING SDD

SERVICE CATEGORY: Diagnostic Software Hardware

ISSUE

When attempting to update the software on a module using JLR VCI, SDD shows the error message: "Error code 903 - Incorrect Service Identification  "

CAUSE

We suspect that the latest update of the JLR-VCI is causing

missing diagnostic messages between the JLR VCI and the vehicles modules.

ACTION

We have identified that running a CAN link monitor has a positive affect on the concern.

The procedure below will launch the SDD Monitoring feature, that will correct this concern:

  1. Start a new SDD Session
  2. Navigate to the 'Recommendation's or 'Extras' tab where the intended application is included.
  3. Click on the 'Quick Launch Menu' icon (white arrow in a green circle) located at the top right corner of the SDD screen.
  4. Click on Start 'SDD Monitoring'.
  5. Complete the required application.
  6. When the application has finished, click again on the 'Quick Launch Menu' icon and 'Stop SDD Monitoring'.
  7. If you found any problem during the application, the 'SDD Log Files' generated during the 'SDD Monitoring' can be exported by clicking on 'Export SDD Log Files' under the 'Quick Launch Menu'.
  8. Close the SDD session

PERMANENT CORRECTIVE ACTION

Once the permanent corrective action has been released, this Service Special Message (SSM) will be expired.
