Rheostat Light Control
NOTE:
Rheostat and rheostat light control are separate components. Rheostat is an electronic module that receives signals from rheostat light control (control wheel).
Remove instrument cluster. Remove rheostat light control. Replace rheostat light control if it does not test as follows.
- Connect battery positive to terminal No. 5. Connect terminal No. 1 to ground. Check voltage between terminal No. 5 (+) and terminal No. 3 (-). Turn rheostat. Voltage should change. See Fig 1.
- Connect battery positive to terminal No. 5 and No. 7. Connect terminal No. 1 to ground. Check voltage between terminal No. 7 (+) and terminal No. 2 (-). Turn rheostat. Voltage should change.
- Check for continuity between terminals No. 6 and 7. Rotate control wheel fully upward (off). There should be no continuity. Rotate control wheel to any other position. There should be continuity.
