Rheostat Light Control
NOTE:
Rheostat and rheostat light control are separate components. Rheostat is an electronic module that receives signals from rheostat light control (control wheel).
- Remove instrument cluster. Remove rheostat light control. Connect battery positive lead to terminal No. 5 (Red/Blue wire). Connect terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire) to ground. Connect voltmeter positive lead to terminal No. 5 (Red/Blue wire) and negative lead to terminal No. 3 (Black wire). Turn rheostat. Voltage reading should change. See Fig 1.
- Connect battery positive lead to terminal No. 5 (Red/Blue wire) and No. 7 (Green wire). Connect terminal No. 1 to ground. Connect voltmeter positive lead to terminal No. 7 (Green wire) and negative lead to terminal No. 2 (Black/wire). Turn rheostat. Voltage should change.
- Check for continuity between terminal No. 6 (Black/Red wire) and No. 7 (Green wire). Rotate control wheel fully counterclockwise. There should be no continuity. Rotate control wheel to any other position. There should be continuity. Replace rheostat light control if it did not test as specified.
