Bench Testing: Brushes

  1. Using a vernier caliper, measure brush length. See STARTER SPECIFICATIONS . If brush length is less than minimum specification, replace brush holder and field frame.
  2. Using ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between positive and negative brushes. If continuity does exist, repair or replace starter commutator end frame.
