Quick Test Procedures
- Lock and unlock doors several times, using switches in each door. Ensure all doors lock and unlock properly. If all locks work, go to next step. If not, go to TEST E .
- Press each button on keyless entry keypad. Wait for button to light and then go off before pushing next button. If each button lights, go to next step. If no buttons light, go to TEST B . If one or more buttons fail to light, go to TEST C .
- With ignition off and key out of ignition lock, close all doors and trunk. Ensure all doors and trunk are unlocked. Simultaneously press 7/8 and 9/0 buttons on keypad. If all doors lock, go to next step. If some doors fail to lock, replace keyless entry module and repeat QUICK TEST. If all doors fail to lock, go to TEST C.
- Unlock driver's door using permanent code. Code is printed on keyless entry module. If driver's door unlocks, go to next step. If driver's door fails to unlock, go to TEST C .
- Wait until light on keypad goes out. Re-enter permanent code and press 3/4 button within 5 seconds to unlock all other door(s). If other door(s) unlock, go to next step. If other door(s) fail to unlock, go to TEST C .
- Wait until light on keypad goes out. Re-enter permanent code and press 5/6 button within 5 seconds to unlock trunk. If trunk unlocks, go to next step. If trunk does not unlock, go to TEST F . If trunk is always open or unlocked, go to TEST F , step 5).
- Sit in driver's seat. Ensure transmission is in PARK and interior lights are off. Close all doors, leaving them unlocked. Turn ignition on. Move transmission selector lever to Reverse, then to Drive. If all doors lock, go to next step. If some doors fail to lock, go to TEST A .
- Stay in driver's seat. Place transmission in Drive, and turn ignition on. Open and then close driver's door. If doors lock when closed, go to next step. If door do not lock, go to TEST A .
- Stay in driver's seat. Place transmission in Drive, and turn ignition on. Open driver's door, and then depress interior light switch with left foot. If door locks, go to TEST A , step 15). If door does not lock, go to next step.
- Place transmission in Park. Turn ignition off and remove key. Exit vehicle and close door. Press any button on keypad. If interior lights and keyhole lights for both doors come on, go to next step. If lights stay on, go to TEST D .
- Wait until interior lights go out. If more than 25 seconds have gone by since performing step 9), press any keypad button to turn interior lights back on again. Within 5 seconds, press 7/8 and 9/0 buttons simultaneously to turn off lights. If lights go out, go to next step. If lights stay on, go to TEST D .
- With ignition off, transmission in Park and driver's door closed, lift outside handle to open door. Within 25 seconds, get into vehicle and turn ignition on. If lights come on when handle is lifted and then go off when ignition is turned on, go to next step. If lights come on, but do not go out, replace keyless entry module and repeat QUICK TEST. If lights do not come on, go to TEST D .
- Enter permanent code on keypad. Press 1/2 button to alert system to accept alternate code. Press the following buttons in sequence and within 5 seconds of each other: 9/0, 7/8, 5/6, 3/4 and 1/2. If keypad lights go out, go to next step. If lights stay on, replace keyless entry module and repeat QUICK TEST.
- Close and lock doors. Press the following buttons in sequence: 9/0, 7/8, 5/6, 3/4 and 1/2. If driver's door unlocks, go to next step. If door stays locked, repeat steps 12) and 13). If system still malfunctions, replace keyless entry module and repeat QUICK TEST.
- When all keypad lights are off, enter permanent code. Depress 1/2 button within 5 seconds after entering code and wait until keypad lights go out. Close and lock driver's door. Press the following buttons in sequence: 9/0, 7/8, 5/6, 3/4 and 1/2. If doors remain locked, keyless entry system is okay. If some doors unlock, replace keyless entry module and repeat QUICK TEST.
